I’m Gavin. It’s hard for me to pinpoint what made me interested in taking photos, but I know exactly where my love for being out in nature came from. As a teenager I spent what feels like countless nights camping out in the deserts and mountains of the western US with my dad and brothers. But it wasn’t until I had a phone with a camera that I began casually snapping pictures of the views that impressed me. I can tell you though, becoming a photographer never crossed my mind. I don’t think it ever really seemed like an option. As I grew up, like most people I was focused on school and my career. I completed bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology, and I began working at a surgical robotics company, where I still work today.

I’ve continued to spend as much time out in nature as possible through hobbies like mountain biking and climbing. It’s really a challenge that I crave. I think we can all relate to that feeling of satisfaction when you feel yourself progress with something difficult.

December of 2022, for whatever reason, I felt the need for a new challenge and that’s when pursuing photography became something I wanted to dedicated time and energy into. Not sure I even explain why…it just felt like the right thing to focus on. A month later, I bought a camera and began this humbling journey. My admiration and respect for artists, of all kinds, has grown massively! Photography has intensified the way that I look at the world. I’ve always been fascinated by weather, but intentionally focusing on the little details, learning to appreciate light and going out of my way to explore more often has helped me to pause and appreciate more often. Observing the incredible miracles found in nature has become incredibly fulfilling and this extra focus has had a profoundly positive impact on my life.

This gallery is my attempt to share those experiences with the world. They all represent really beautiful moments in my life but they are far from perfect. I’m an amateur and have SO MUCH to learn, but I plan to continue to share as I do.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and view my images, I really hope you enjoy them!
